Drive on

Drove the long way home.
To “the spot”, where a flock of Iris
stood in the wake of her.
With one left I drove on
past ex-girlfriends houses
and work places towards home.
I imagined Jess signaling me
and directing my wheels.
I guess it was just the passing
of her ghost, like rain.
She is gone, though her car
pops up now and then.
To never return we go to death.
